9 Indonesian GSF Volunteers Kidnapped by Israel Arrive Home
Nine Indonesian citizens who were previously detained by the Israeli military while participating in the humanitarian mission Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 to Gaza have arrived in Indonesia on Sunday (24/5/2026). They landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, and were welcomed by Foreign Minister Sugiono and other officials.
Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed gratitude for the safe return of the Indonesian citizens. "With deep gratitude to Allah SWT, we welcome back our brothers and sisters who since May 18 were detained by the Israeli military," he said. He stressed that this release was achieved thanks to the permission of Allah SWT as well as coordination and negotiation with various parties.
Sugiono thanked the President, Commission I of the House of Representatives, Global Peace Convoy Indonesia, and the governments of Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt for their assistance. The nine Indonesian citizens flew from Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday evening and arrived home the following day.
