Will I feel out of place at a mosque?

Assalamu alaikum, everyone. I’m a white guy who’s clearly not Muslim, and I’m wondering if it’d be awkward if I visited a mosque. Bit about me: I lean agnostic/atheist, but I’m really curious about different faiths and want to learn from imams and everyday Muslims. A Muslim friend goes to a nearby mosque, and he invited me along, but with all the attacks on mosques lately, I’m worried I might make folks uncomfortable. Any tips on what to wear or do to put people at ease? And totally call me out if I’m overthinking this-I can handle it lol. JazakAllah khair 🫶
