Why did my dua and prayers seem to bring more trouble?

As-salamu alaykum. I was let go from my job last month, and now I'm working through my notice period. Honestly, I was okay with being fired because my boss is really cruel. We're obviously not on good terms-they dismissed me after I scored 70% on a probation test, which wasn't enough. Anyway, I kept asking Allah for protection and to keep these people away from me during this notice, but things just kept getting worse. I can't be around them without feeling furious (they're racist, mean, and degrading). For the first time in 15 years, I'm praying my five daily prayers and begging Allah to shield me, but at work, I'm facing extreme situations while praying. Part of it might be that I'm pmsing and get extra irritable-maybe that's why things feel so bad, not that my prayers aren't working. Usually, even if I miss some prayers, my duas are answered, alhamdulillah. What can I do to ask Allah for a peaceful end to this notice period? I just want to be done with them; after all, they're the ones who fired me.
