Two Children of Security Guard Killed in Jatiluhur Reservoir Receive Scholarships Through College, Ministry of Social Affairs Provides Assistance
The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Pangudi Luhur Bekasi Integrated Center, is providing support and assistance to the family of the late Sumarna, a security guard found dead at Jatiluhur Reservoir, Purwakarta, on Friday (7/24/2026). Officers visited the family home and met with the deceased's wife, Siti Maryam, and their two children for an initial assessment.
Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf stated that the team has handed over funeral cost assistance. Both of the deceased's children are registered as recipients of the Smart Indonesia Program and will receive scholarships through college from Perum Jasa Tirta 2. The Ministry also plans to provide entrepreneurship assistance for Siti Maryam to support the family's economic empowerment.
Sumarna (40) was found dead in a concerning condition on Friday morning after losing contact while on night duty. He had earlier confronted a group of youths suspected of planning vandalism. Police are still investigating the possible link between the incident and the victim's death.
