Trump Reportedly Delays Attack on Iran, Prioritizes Diplomacy
U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to give more time for resolving the conflict with Iran through diplomacy. The Wall Street Journal reported that in a meeting with national security officials on Friday (May 22, 2026), Trump expressed his desire for the diplomatic process to continue, even though no final decision has been made.
On the other hand, CBS News reports say Trump is seriously considering fresh strike options against Iran. A number of U.S. military and intelligence officers have canceled their Memorial Day leave plans, and defense officials are reviewing the recall of personnel overseas and continuing troop rotations at Middle East bases in anticipation of a possible Iranian retaliatory attack.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that any attack by the U.S. or Israel could expand the conflict beyond the region and open new battlefronts.
