Thinking of embracing Islam but unsure about Hadith and my feelings about Isa (AS)
Assalamu alaikum, I’ll try to keep this short, but a bit of background might help. I’m a white guy covered in tattoos, and my tough life journey led me here. I went from atheist to agnostic, then became a Christian on my own terms. But my views clashed with other Christians-I didn’t believe Jesus (AS) is God, and I felt strongly that our deeds matter for salvation. When I defended these ideas, they called me a heretic and pushed me away. Now, after reading the Quran twice in English and soaking up so much, even learning nasheeds in Arabic with their meanings, I’m on the edge of accepting Islam. I love Isa (AS) deeply; he’s the Messiah and will return on Judgment Day-that’s clear to me. But here’s my struggle: I want to follow the Quran with all my heart, but I’m hesitant about the Sunnah and Hadith. Coming from Christianity, it feels odd to rely on books that seem no more reliable than the Gospels we reject. The Quran is the pure word of Allah-why add these other texts? Maybe being just a Quranist is better than not being Muslim at all? I’d really appreciate your thoughts to help me through this.
