Satpol PP Surabaya Secures 5,500 m² of City Government Asset Land in East Ngagel
Satpol PP Surabaya, together with BPKAD, cleared and secured 5,500 square meters of land owned by the Surabaya city government on Jalan Ngagel Timur, Gubeng District, Thursday (30/7). This step was taken to make sure regional assets are used legally and bring benefits to the community. The operation involved hundreds of combined personnel from regional agencies, the military, and police.
Plt. Head of Satpol PP Surabaya Irna Pawanti explained that the party occupying the land since 1979 no longer had a legal basis for use because they hadn’t paid the Land Use Permit (IPT) levy since 2015. Before the physical eviction, the city government had done persuasive approaches, socialization, and dialogue, plus reviewed legality with BPKAD, the Legal Division, and the Surabaya District Attorney’s Office.
After being secured, the land will be turned into a public service center, including a community health center (Puskesmas), district office, and fire station. The goal is to make it easier for residents of Gubeng District to access health, government, and safety services. Despite some resistance, the situation stayed under control thanks to a humanistic approach and help moving belongings before demolition.
Head of Regional Regulation Enforcement at Satpol PP Surabaya Rizal Zainal Arifin emphasized that this operation proves the city government’s seriousness in protecting regional assets. "We act firmly but still with a human touch. Cross-agency synergy will keep being strengthened so city government assets benefit all residents," he concluded.
