Swindling Victim of Rp 22 Million with Money Multiplication Scam, Two Men Arrested by Mojokerto Police

The Criminal Investigation Unit of Mojokerto Police arrested two men, Misrianto (53) and Abdul Rosid Wijaya (49), for an alleged fraud with a money multiplication modus operandi. The victim, Nur Subakir, lost Rp 22 million after being lured by the suspects' sweet talk in a mosque yard in Padi Village, Gondang District. The victim handed over cash and received a white envelope from the suspects. When opened, the envelope only contained paper resembling money. Police revealed that the introduction happened when the two accidentally met while making a pilgrimage at Mount Kemukus, Sragen. From the investigation, police seized evidence including a Honda Brio car, a black bag, a white envelope, a car rental form, and mobile phones.
