Surabaya Hajj Embarkation Departures Reach 21 Percent, Flight On-Time Performance Optimal
Entering the 8th day of operations, the departure of Hajj pilgrims from the Surabaya Embarkation has been orderly and smooth. As of Tuesday (28/4/2026), a total of 9,111 pilgrims and officials have been dispatched to the Holy Land, reaching about 21 percent of the total target of 44,080 people for the Hajj season of 1447 H/2026 AD. Flight on-time performance (OTP) has been recorded as optimal, with all 23 clusters that have departed leaving on schedule.
From an operational standpoint, there were 18 vacant seats due to health factors, delays, cluster transfers, and technical reasons. The Head of PPIH Embarkation Surabaya, Mohammad As'adul Anam, also conveyed deep condolences for the passing of one pilgrim in Saudi Arabia. "May the deceased be granted the best place by Allah SWT," he said. Additionally, five other pilgrims are undergoing delays at the Hajj dormitory due to health conditions.
Anam affirmed that the overall operation is proceeding according to plan thanks to solid cross-sector coordination. Pilgrim health aspects are a primary focus, with intensive monitoring for pilgrims with specific conditions. For upcoming operations, on April 29, 2026, the arrival of 1,520 pilgrims from five districts to the Surabaya Hajj Embarkation Dormitory is scheduled.
