Saudi Arabia Installs 74 Escalators in Mina for the Comfort of 2026 Hajj Pilgrims
The Saudi government has completed the installation of 74 escalator units at several crucial points in the Mina area, in preparation for welcoming the 2026 Hajj season. This project, carried out by Kidana Development Company, a subsidiary of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, aims to ensure smoother, safer, and more comfortable mobility for pilgrims.
The installation was carried out in stages over the last three seasons: 32 units in 2024, 32 units in 2025, and an additional 10 units at eight strategic locations this season. The main focus is to facilitate the movement of pilgrims, especially the elderly and those with physical limitations, as well as to improve travel time efficiency and reduce crowding on conventional routes.
This initiative aligns with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision to modernize the infrastructure of the holy sites, so that pilgrims can better focus on their worship without significant physical barriers. The project is part of the commitment to improve the quality of services at the holy sites.
