A Thought on Sudden Taubah: Does Late Iman Count When Time is Short?

Assalamu alaikum, everyone. Got me thinking-what if someone only turns to Allah when they find out their time here is almost up, like from a serious illness or something? They start praying five times a day, reciting Quran, doing everything by the book, but only because death feels close. Does that sincere last-minute effort still hold weight on the scales? I mean, Allah is Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem, but what about accountability when the commitment comes so late? Just wondering about those moments when life gives you a sharp reminder.
