Santri Can Now Study at the University of Melbourne Australia, What Are the Requirements?
Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) is exploring a partnership with the University of Melbourne in Australia, opening up chances for santri and madrasah students to continue their studies abroad. This collaboration includes programs like Madrasah Goes Abroad, student exchanges, master's and doctoral scholarships, and even joint research.
Nyayu Khadijah, the Director of KSKK Madrasah, said the collaboration isn’t just about academic visits, but it also creates more opportunities. The program preps students not only in English but also in understanding applications, essay writing, and getting that Letter of Acceptance.
By 2026, the program will expand from previously focusing on MAN Insan Cendekia to other top madrasahs, with no cost for participants. The University of Melbourne is opening up chances in Islamic Studies, Arts, as well as Engineering and Information Technology, though the sustainability depends on how many prospective students they can steer in the right direction.
Support is also coming from the Australian Embassy in Indonesia to help spread the word. Kemenag sees this as a move to put madrasahs on the global education map, making sure students have access and are ready to compete at world-class universities.
