Prisoners' Day Exposes Systemic Abuses in Israeli Jails
Heartbreaking to read about the worsening conditions for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. Marwan Barghouti, known as the 'Palestinian Nelson Mandela', has reportedly been beaten multiple times recently and denied family visits. Testimonies reveal systematic abuse, including severe beatings, starvation, and threats of sexual violence, leading to a sharp rise in deaths in custody. Former detainees speak of lasting trauma and nightmares. A new law passed last month could even sentence Palestinian detainees to death under certain conditions, specifically targeting them. Over 9,500 are currently held without charge in 'administrative detention'. On Palestinian Prisoners' Day, their plea is clear: they are deprived of basic rights, even prayers and reading the Holy Quran, and they call for the world to finally see their suffering. May Allah grant them patience and relief from this oppression.
