BANDA ACEH – The North Jakarta Metro Police will hold a case hearing to determine the legal status of two suspected perpetrators behind a Quran memorization challenge with an alcohol prize, namely a woman with the initials R and a man with the initials E.
Acting North Jakarta Police Chief Commissioner Oki Waskito stated that a decision will be made at the latest tomorrow through a case hearing to determine whether this alleged religious blasphemy case proceeds to the investigation stage. 'The plan is to hold it tonight, at the latest tomorrow because it's within 24 hours from this morning,' he said, Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Both are currently detained at the North Jakarta Police headquarters and are the figures in a viral video during The Sounds Project concert at Ecovention & Ecopark Ancol. If proven to meet criminal elements, both face being named as suspects.
Previously, the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, said the suspected perpetrators could potentially be charged under Article 300 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
