Ndhalem Kasepuhan Mbah Wahab in Jombang to Host Ahwa Session of the 35th NU Congress
Ndhalem Kasepuhan KH Wahab Chasbullah, inside the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School complex in Jombang, is gonna be the spot for the Ahlul Halli Wal Aqli (Ahwa) meeting during the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress. They picked this historic building to bring back the fighting spirit of KH Wahab Chasbullah, one of NU's big figures and a national hero.
The local congress committee chair, KH Abdurrozaq, said the location choice carries some serious historical weight. "We wanna revive Mbah Wahab's spirit and his example. He was NU's main mover who never gave up fighting for religion and country," he said on Sunday (Aug 23).
The Ndhalem, which is close to the Jami' Bahrul Ulum Mosque, is expected to set a solemn discussion mood for the nine senior kyai in the Ahwa. The committee has also prepped stuff like air conditioning to keep the old kyai comfortable.
With its mix of historical vibes, pesantren atmosphere, and the facilities ready, this place is hoped to support a calm discussion process for deciding the direction of the organization's leadership.
