Lebaran Yatim 1448 H: Transforming Charity into Empowerment for the Nation's Children
The Ministry of Religious Affairs, together with philanthropic partners, held Lebaran Yatim and Disabilities 1448 H in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6/2026), focusing on empowering orphans and people with disabilities, not just giving out donations. A total of Rp23.5 billion was distributed to 50,113 orphans and 2,488 people with disabilities across 34 provinces.
Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stressed the momentum of 10 Muharram as a day of liberation from hardship for vulnerable groups. He invited the public to make this event a tradition of ongoing solidarity through education and self-development.
Director General of Islamic Community Guidance Abu Rokhmad explained that the program was packaged into five festival zones, like the Growth Zone and the Empowerment Zone, to facilitate expression and develop children's potential. This activity involved 14 central institutions and was carried out in many regions.
BAZNAS Chairman Sodik Mudjahid supported the theme 'Inclusive Message Festival' as a step to transform social assistance into potential-based empowerment. The synergy between the government, zakat institutions, and the community is expected to strengthen the independence of beneficiaries.
