KPK Suspects Inactive Tulungagung Regent of Extortion Reaching Schools and Sub-Districts
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects the inactive Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo, of committing extortion that even reached the sub-district and school environments within the Tulungagung Regency Government. The KPK states that it already has preliminary information related to this alleged act of extortion.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that this act of extortion in school and sub-district environments is related to the filling of positions. According to him, there were certain funds that had to be provided to fill positions such as School Principal or Sub-District Head.
KPK investigators are currently still tracing the facts of the matter and expect public support in the investigation process. Gatut, along with his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, have been named as suspects for extortion. Gatut is suspected of having received Rp 2.7 billion from a total demand of Rp 5 billion.
