Jember's Economic Growth Hits 6.35 Percent in Q1 2026
BPS recorded Jember Regency's economic growth in Q1 2026 at 6.35 percent (year on year), the highest in the Sekar Kijang area and surpassing East Java's average (5.96 percent) and the national average (5.61 percent). This achievement outperforms neighboring regions: Banyuwangi 6.14 percent, Lumajang 5.89 percent, Situbondo 5.50 percent, and Bondowoso 5.42 percent.
Four main sectors driving the growth are Agriculture, Forestry, & Fisheries (contributing 1.51 percent), Manufacturing (1.45 percent), Trade (0.89 percent), and Information & Communication (0.72 percent). The agricultural sector was boosted by a 27 percent increase in rice production thanks to high rainfall, and was also supported by rising market demand related to the Free Nutritious Meal program.
The construction sector also saw significant growth, driven by the construction of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Facilities, which surged to nearly 200 units. The corporate services sector recorded the highest growth rate, triggered by high interest in tourism and umrah travel. BPS reminds that it's necessary to anticipate the agricultural sector's vulnerability to weather and to strengthen non-agricultural sectors so the positive trend continues.
