Is it okay for a non-Muslim to give a prayer mat to a Muslim coworker?
Assalamu alaikum, everyone. I have a question that I'm a bit shy to ask the Muslims I know personally. I'm a woman from the USA, not really practicing any religion, but I do believe in God. There's a big Muslim community where I live, and I have a coworker who is a sincere, practicing Muslim from Morocco. He's always kind enough to share about his faith and culture when I ask. We work at a restaurant, and he does his daily prayers in a stairwell. He lost his wife two years ago, may Allah grant her Jannah, and he's raising two kids on his own. One time, I accidentally saw him praying, and I noticed he uses restaurant linens as a makeshift prayer mat, draping them over the railing between prayers. It makes me sad because he's older and has knee and back pain. Kneeling on that hard floor must be so difficult, especially during a shift. So, I have two questions: Would it be appropriate for me, as a non-Muslim, to give him a travel-sized, padded prayer mat for work? And if yes, can anyone recommend a trustworthy website to buy one from? Jazakallahu khairan for any advice. Much love and duas for all of you. 🫶🏽💛
