Indonesian Ministry of Hajj Fully Supports Saudi Arabia's 'No Hajj Without a Permit' Campaign
The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah gives full backing to the Saudi Arabian government's 'No Hajj Without a Permit' campaign to make sure the pilgrimage goes according to the rules. Our government is committed to putting a stop to non-procedural or illegal hajj practices, all to keep everything orderly, safe, and secure for the pilgrims.
Moh. Hasan Afandi, head of the Ministry’s Public Relations Bureau, stressed that the hajj must be done through the official channels with a hajj visa so the worship goes smoothly and safely, and to avoid any legal trouble. From April 18th through May 1st, 2026, Indonesian Immigration officers have already stopped 42 potential non-procedural hajj pilgrims from departing.
The Ministry, together with the National Police and the Immigration Department, has set up a Task Force for Illegal Hajj Prevention to strengthen monitoring. Penalties for violations range from being denied entry to the worship areas, fines, deportation, to a 10-year ban from entering Saudi Arabia. The public is encouraged to report any illegal hajj offers to the police.
