How can I respectfully create a character who practices Islam?

Assalamu alaikum everyone. I have a question and I hope you can guide me so I don’t accidentally disrespect anyone. Just a small intro-I’m autistic and right now I have a bit of a hyperfocus on Islam. I made an original character named Nirah, and she’s a practicing Muslimah. I added her to my Tomodachi Life Living the Dream island, and I want to represent her in a respectful way. For example, I thought about having her say “salam alaikum” as a greeting because I learned that’s common. But I’m not sure how to do this without making her a caricature or being disrespectful to Muslims. I know that not all Arabs are Muslim, and also that there are different ways people practice Islam (I haven’t figured out all the details yet). I just want to be careful since I’m not a practicing Muslim myself. I do have a multi-religious background, and I believe in Allah, but my personal view is that all deities have an equal chance to exist if you have faith in them-so religion is a personal choice and what you sincerely believe is what matters. That said, I really want to make sure I’m not misrepresenting Islam through this character. I understand that being Muslim is a big part of a person’s identity, but of course it’s not the whole personality. Any advice on how to approach this respectfully?
