Jember Regent Pushes for Annual Sholawat Agenda with Sokarajjeh Council
The Jember Regency government is pushing for the sholawat gathering with the Sokarajjeh Sholawat Council to become an annual event. Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait (Gus Fawait) shared this hope before tens of thousands of worshippers at Nusantara Jember Square on Wednesday night (5/8), marking the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence.
Gus Fawait stressed that large-scale religious events bring spiritual blessings and a positive impact on the local community's economic cycle. He called the ulama and kiai essential assets in the spirit of “New Jember, Advanced Jember”.
The event was attended by several figures, including KHR Achmad Azaim Ibrahimy, caretaker of Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School; Acting Jember Regional Secretary Achmad Imam Fauzi; IKSASS Jember Branch Chairman KH Abdul Aziz; House Commission II Chairman Muhammad Khozin; representatives from the Indonesian Ombudsman and the Home Affairs Ministry; members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum; university heads; and six interfaith figures. The regent also outlined priority programs, like centralizing ID card services and business permits at the sub-district level, along with regional scholarships including a special scheme for santri.
In his sermon, KHR Achmad Azaim Ibrahimy urged the congregation to strengthen their gratitude for independence and welcome the Prophet's birthday with inner and outer readiness. He also recalled the struggles of heroes, including KHR As'ad Syamsul Arifin, while praying that this momentum brings peace and increased piety.
