Dito Ariotedjo Questioned by KPK Over Hajj Quota Corruption Case
Former Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo was questioned again as a witness in the alleged corruption case involving the 2023-2024 hajj quota, on Tuesday (30/6). He gave additional testimony to KPK investigators regarding two new suspects from the private sector.
Dito said the questioning covered, among other things, his visit to Saudi Arabia in October 2023 with President Jokowi for a bilateral meeting with Prince Mohammed bin Salman. After that meeting, Indonesia got extra hajj quota.
KPK had previously named former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and his former special staffer Ishfah Abidal Aziz as suspects. The case development then led to two new suspects: Ismail Adham (Operational Director of PT Maktour Travel) and Asrul Azis Taba (Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama, Chairman of Kesthuri). Both allegedly asked for additional special hajj quota exceeding regulatory limits and were supposedly involved in dividing regular and special quotas under a 50-50 scheme.
