Dispaperta Sidoarjo Ensures Sacrificial Animals are Free from FMD, 5,000 Cows Vaccinated
Ahead of Eid al-Adha, the Sidoarjo Food and Agriculture Agency (Dispaperta) is moving fast to make sure livestock in its area are free from Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). Intense monitoring is being carried out as the trade of sacrificial animals picks up.
Plt Head of Livestock Production and Public Veterinary Health at Dispaperta Sidoarjo, drh. Erwin Priatmoko, said that so far there have been no reports of FMD cases. A total of 5,000 animals have been vaccinated, with each cow receiving two doses to boost immunity.
Officers routinely check farmers' pens and sales spots directly, including animals from outside the region, through physical exams, documents, and vaccination status. Dispaperta has noted a positive trend where many mosque committees and residents buy directly from assisted breeders, which is considered more economical and safe.
With strict supervision, Dispaperta Sidoarjo assures that the public can welcome Eid al-Adha without worries about the threat of FMD, so the act of sacrifice can proceed safely and healthily.
