Seeking comfort: moving into masjid housing while my parents dislike Islam
As-salamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters. I'm writing this with a heavy heart and really need some advice. I'm a revert, keeping my Islam hidden because my parents are strongly against it-they're devout Christians. This year I'm off to university and I've decided to stay in masjid housing. It’ll help me save money and strengthen my faith, but my family has no idea. I move in about two months and I'm terrified of how my dad will react. He once shouted at me just for suspecting I was practicing. On top of that, I worry about fitting in as a white revert. I'm constantly anxious and don't know what to do. Any words of wisdom would mean the world.
