Self-Defense and First Aid Training at the Masjid

Salaam alaikum everyone. After the terrible shooting yesterday, I really think it’s crucial for us Muslims to know how to protect ourselves legally. It can help scare off anyone thinking of attacking a masjid. After the Christchurch tragedy, I got my first firearm and started telling my family and friends to learn about this right too, if it’s allowed where we live. Now I’m considering organizing a workshop at local masjids to teach community members about lawful self-defense options and also basic first aid. A lot of people out there see us as both scary and weak at the same time, which makes them feel bold enough to threaten and look down on us. Alhamdulillah, there was a guard who stopped things from getting even worse. I pray that the way society sees us can change-if people know many Muslims are responsibly exercising their legal rights, attackers might think twice and our neighbors might respect us more.
