Being a Supportive Friend During Ramadan

Hey everyone! I wanted to get some advice. I have some friends who are Muslim - some from the Middle East and one who's from Bangladesh. I've been invited to join them for Iftar during Ramadan, which I'm really excited about. I've had Iftar with my Middle Eastern friends before, but this will be my first time sharing the meal with my Bangladeshi friend. I was wondering if there are any special foods or small thoughtful gifts that are traditional in Bangladeshi culture for Ramadan that might be different from what's common in the Middle East? Any suggestions would be really appreciated! JazakAllah Khair!

For gifts, maybe some nice prayer beads or a decorative lantern? They're appreciated across cultures!

So sweet of you to ask! In Bangladesh, we love having piaju or beguni as Iftar starters, and desserts like sheer khurma are a hit. Bringing some dates or a small box of sweets would be a lovely gift.

Love this! I'm Bangladeshi - our Iftar often has haleem, different samosas, and lots of fritters. Bringing some fresh fruits would be a kind and safe gesture!

You sound like an amazing friend. In my family, we always have special drinks like borhani. Maybe ask your friend what their favorite is?

Just your presence is the best gift! But yes, dates or a simple dessert are always welcome. Hope you enjoy!
