Banyuwangi Becomes a Model for the National Rice Journey Dashboard
Banyuwangi Regency has been appointed by the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs as a pilot area for developing the Rice Journey Dashboard. This rice commodity monitoring system will serve as the basis for data-driven national food policy making.
Expert Staff to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Economics at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Sugeng Santoso, announced the appointment during a coordination meeting with Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, Vice Regent Mujiono, BRIN, and the Banyuwangi Regency government, on Monday (6/7). The dashboard is being developed as a decision support system to help achieve the target of increasing the National Food Security Index in the 2025–2029 RPJMN.
"This dashboard will provide input for policy making, especially for rice, quickly, precisely, and based on data," said Sugeng. The system can monitor production, stock, distribution, as well as potential price hikes or rice shortages in real time, while also analyzing causes and providing intervention recommendations.
Banyuwangi was chosen because of its supporting ecosystem, including being a national rice-producing area, actively controlling food distribution and inflation, and having good IT-based governance. Regent Ipuk expressed readiness to support this collaboration to produce better data-driven food governance.
