UNESCO Assessment Wraps Up, Assessors Say Bojonegoro Geopark Has Big Potential for Global Recognition

The field assessment and validation of the Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark (aUGGp) in Bojonegoro has officially wrapped up. The UNESCO assessor team gave a thumbs-up to the Bojonegoro Regency Government's readiness in prepping for the evaluation process. Assessor Andreas Josef Schuller from Germany congratulated the Regent, Vice Regent, and the whole team for their hard work. Over four days, the assessors visited a number of geosites, biosites, and supporting destinations, like Kedung Lantung Geosite, Teak Forest Biosite, Kayangan Api, Ngringinrejo Starfruit Garden Biosite, and the 13 Panjunan Museum. Andreas said Bojonegoro has huge potential, not just in geology, but also in education, culture, and the Samin community. Regent Setyo Wahono said they're committed to making continuous improvements according to UNESCO Global Geopark standards.
