Two Tulungagung Regents Snared by KPK in the Records

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially named Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide Dwi Yoga Ambal as suspects in a case of alleged extortion of officials within the Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java. Both have been detained at the KPK's Red and White Building Branch Detention Center for an initial detention period of 20 days, from April 11 to 30, 2026. The records show that Gatut isn't the first regent from that area to be caught in a sting operation (OTT). Previously, in June 2018, Tulungagung Regent Syahri Mulyo was also named a KPK suspect in a bribery case related to infrastructure projects at the local Public Works and Housing Office.
