Three Prayers to Maintain Enthusiasm and Overcome Drowsiness During Activities
Drowsiness that appears while studying, working, or praying can disrupt focus and productivity. In Islam, prayer is a form of spiritual effort to ask for strength, enthusiasm, and tranquility from Allah SWT.
Several scholars recommend prayer practices to overcome this. One of them, Al-‘Arif Billah KH Nahrowi Dalhal Watucongol, taught reading Ayat Kursi (Al-Baqarah verse 255) seven times after the five daily prayers. Another alternative is reading Surah Al-A'raf verses 54-56 or a special prayer seeking refuge from weakness and laziness: "Allahumma inni a'udzu bika minal 'ajzi wal kasal" (HR. Bukhari and Muslim).
Islam encourages maintaining enthusiasm and avoiding laziness as part of good character. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said, "A strong believer is better and more loved by Allah than a weak believer" (HR. Muslim). This strength encompasses physical, mental, enthusiasm, and determination in both life and worship.
