Surabaya Hajj Organizing Committee Warns Pilgrims of Extreme Heat in Holy Land, Six Pilgrims Pass Away
The Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) for the Surabaya Embarkation reminds all Indonesian pilgrims to increase their vigilance against the extreme weather in the Holy Land, where temperatures have reached 45 degrees Celsius. The head of the Surabaya Embarkation PPIH, Mohammad As’adul Anam, emphasized the importance of strictly following officers' instructions, staying hydrated by drinking water regularly even before feeling thirsty, and maintaining a proper diet to anticipate the risks of dehydration and exhaustion.
The Surabaya PPIH also shared the sad news of the passing of six pilgrims from the Surabaya Embarkation in Saudi Arabia. They are Kamariyah Dul Tayib (85), Abd Wachid (71), Fajar Puja Sasmita (53), Sibiatun Saji (72), Mustika Rajim Diman (75), and Suyono Reso (58). Additionally, one pilgrim, Tini Atmin (56), passed away at the Surabaya Embarkation due to a heart condition. The PPIH expressed its deepest condolences and prayed that their worship will be accepted by Allah SWT and that their families are granted patience.
As of Thursday (14/5), eight prospective pilgrims have had their departures postponed at the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory due to health and administrative reasons. On the same day, the Surabaya Embarkation also welcomed the arrival of pilgrims from groups 87 through 91, who come from the Bondowoso, Situbondo, and Jember regencies.
