Surabaya DPRD Urges City Gov to Immediately Fill Definitive Leadership Positions in BUMD

Member of Commission B of the Surabaya City DPRD, Baktiono, stressed that the leadership vacancies in several Perumda and PD, which have only been filled by acting officials, have gone on too long. This situation is seen as hampering innovation and progress of the regional companies in serving the public and contributing to regional income. “Commission B urges that definitive leaders be appointed immediately. Acting officials only focus on running old routines, while definitive leaders have full authority and responsibility to make breakthroughs and new policies,” said Baktiono, Thursday (23/7). He emphasized the importance of credible leaders, and if the candidates who register are not suitable, the government must actively seek from academics, community figures, to professionals who have succeeded in the private sector. Baktiono gave an example of PD Taman Satwa Kebun Binatang Surabaya which needs someone with an understanding of business management and wildlife conservation, as well as other BUMD like PDAM Surya Sembada.
