Seeking Guidance on an Ant Problem in the Home

Assalamu alaikum, everyone. I'm hoping someone with some insight can help me figure out this ant situation we've got going on. Out of nowhere, our apartment has been completely taken over by them. They're a real nuisance, especially with our food. You can't leave anything uncovered for even a minute-not a plate, not a cup-without them finding their way in. Leave something on the table for five minutes, and a whole crew has descended on it. I'm trying to understand why this is happening, because, by the grace of Allah, our home is kept clean. We are not unhygienic people, and we make our salah and read Quran regularly. A sister did mention it could be related to something like sihr or jinns, but Allahu A'lam. I also know that harming animals without cause is not allowed, but it's reaching a point where they are disturbing our household peace and we feel we have no other option. Any advice or answers to these questions would be so appreciated. Jazakum Allahu khayran.
