Residents of Tambakberas Jombang Blessed by NU Congress
The appointment of Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School as the venue for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress has brought blessings to the local residents. Houses around the location are increasingly being booked for accommodation by congress participants and guests. Siti Nur Hayati, a resident of the Bahrul Ulum Menara Asri housing complex, said that demand for house rentals has risen since Tambakberas was designated as the host. "Alhamdulillah, more people are starting to look, and many have also placed indents already," she said on Friday (10/7).
Bookings have been coming in over the past two days. The houses being rented out are not just empty ones, but also those still occupied by the owners. The homeowners usually temporarily move to their parents' or relatives' houses to help each other ensure the congress runs smoothly. Rental rates range from Rp5 million to Rp10 million for about a one-week rental period.
The high interest is influenced by the housing complex's location, which is only about 500 meters from the parking area and activity venues. Prospective tenants come from various regions, some contacting through WhatsApp, others coming in person. The 35th NU Congress will be held on 27-31 August 2026, expected to be attended by around 6,000 official participants, observers, and invited guests from across Indonesia and abroad. The rising demand for accommodation has become an economic opportunity for the surrounding residents.
