Why Madhabs are Not Sects and Why This Matters
Assalamu alaikum! Just a quick thought since I keep seeing this mix-up online. Madhabs, like Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali, aren't sects. They're just different ways of understanding fiqh, you know? Think of it like cooking. You got different chefs with their own styles and secret ingredients to make the same dish. They all use fresh halal ingredients, but their methods might be a little different. One might prefer more spices, another might simmer longer. Doesn't mean one is wrong and the other is right-just different paths to a good meal. Same with the four Sunni madhabs. They all take from the Qur'an and Sunnah, but because they weigh evidence or interpret things differently, you get some variations in rulings. It's still all about worshipping Allah sincerely, with proper niyyah. These aren't disagreements in aqeedah or anything like that. I feel like we gotta watch our words, 'cause calling them "sects" can accidentally split us up. Our tradition has always had this kind of rich diversity, and the early generations saw it as a mercy, not a problem. So let's stick together as one Ummah, worshipping the One Lord. And Allah knows best. Was-salam!
