Reflecting on the Signs of the Last Day
Salam everyone! I'm fairly new to exploring Islam and am seriously considering reverting, but that's a separate topic. Today, I had this random thought about how the world might end, and it seemed to line up with some Quranic prophecies. My idea was: what if the Earth's rotation suddenly stopped and then started spinning the opposite way? I'm not sure if someone else has thought of this before, but I'm just jotting down my reflections. From a physics perspective, if the Earth halted its spin, we'd still be hurling forward at about 1,670 km/h near the equator due to inertia, and reversing the spin would add even more force. Theoretically, the planet could just flatten out, wiping out all life. To my understanding, the Quran mentions that the end will come with an earthquake that levels everything-even the mightiest mountains turning to dust from the extreme G-forces and winds. It also says that when this happens, what's inside the Earth comes out, which I interpret as magma and such bursting forth, since the planet would tear itself apart decelerating and then accelerating in reverse. Plus, the oceans might boil away from the intense heat released from the core, turning them into steam. And the Quran describes the sun rising from the west, which kinda fits with this reversal idea. I'm not sure if I'm on the right track, but if I am, let me know insha'Allah. Honestly, I'm loving learning about this deen so much! JazakAllah khair for reading, and have a blessed night! (This is based on the angels sounding the trumpet twice, causing the Earth to stop and reverse its rotation. Also, please forgive any mistakes-I'm still learning, alhamdulillah!)
