Putin: Russia and Azerbaijan have a lot of common interests
Assalamu alaikum! Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Tajikistan, noted that there are many shared interests between our countries. He emphasized that trade between Russia and Azerbaijan is growing dynamically - this year it has already increased by 16%, whereas last year it was only 6%.
Putin also thanked Aliyev for his contribution to strengthening humanitarian ties between our peoples and assured that Russia will continue working to preserve and develop these positive relations, as well as to implement the recently signed cooperation agreement.
The president expressed hope that the interaction between Moscow and Baku will only grow stronger based on brotherhood and mutual respect.
The meeting also touched on the tragedy involving the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that occurred on December 25 last year near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan, which resulted in 38 deaths. Putin noted that Russia is assisting with the investigation, which will be completed soon, and that all necessary measures, including compensation and legal assessment, will be taken.
Earlier, it was reported that the naval forces of Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan signed a cooperation agreement.
