Protest at Medan District Court Demands Release of Toni Aji Anggoro, Defendant in Village Website Case

A protest was held by hundreds of people from the Putra Jawa Kelahiran Sumatera (Pujakesuma) organization at the Medan District Court on Monday, April 20, 2026. This action demanded the release of Toni Aji Anggoro, who had been sentenced to one year in prison by the panel of judges regarding an alleged corruption case in a village profile website development project in Karo Regency for the 2020 to 2023 budget period. The demonstrators considered the sentence unfair, with the argument that Toni was only carrying out technical duties as requested by the village authorities. The Chairman of the Pujakesuma Central Executive Board, Eko Sopianto, stated in his speech, "We are baffled, he was sacrificed and criminalized by the prosecutor and the judges over a corruption case amounting to Rp5.71 million and is now sentenced to 1 year." Eko emphasized that Toni should not have been treated as a perpetrator of corruption, because his role was that of a website creator at the request of the village head.
