President Prabowo Stops Car to Accept Painting from Deaf Teen in Nganjuk
Nganjuk – President Prabowo Subianto stopped his vehicle amid a crowd of locals after inaugurating the Marsinah Museum in Nglundo village, Sukomoro, Nganjuk, on Saturday (16/5). He was drawn to a deaf teenager, Hendro Prasetyo, who held up a sketch painting of his face.
Hendro's father, Slamet, said they had earlier failed to deliver the painting in a sterile area. But Hendro's persistence paid off when Prabowo rolled down the car window, called him over, and accepted the black-and-white painting with high appreciation.
"Alhamdulillah, it was well received by Mr. Prabowo. And he gave us some money," Slamet said, visibly moved. Prabowo also raised the painting in the air to show it to the crowd.
Hendro, who had prepared the artwork for two weeks, said he was proud that his painting was accepted directly by the President.
