PDIP Urges VP Gibran to Clarify Alleged Funding to UBK Students
PDIP is pressing Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to promptly issue a public clarification regarding the alleged provision of funds to Bung Karno University (UBK) students following a meeting at the Vice Presidential Palace. DPP PDIP chair Deddy Sitorus said that a direct explanation from Gibran is highly anticipated by the public to quell the wild speculation that's been spreading.
Gibran is asked to be brave enough to speak honestly, including if the issue isn't true. But if there really were funds flowing, their origin must be revealed transparently so that there are no allegations of political maneuvering or the use of unclear funding sources. "Is it the VP's operational money or personal money? That has to be clear so there's no wild assumptions," Deddy said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Vice President Gibran had earlier received 15 student representatives on Monday, June 15, 2026, after a demonstration in the Horse Statue area. The action coordinator, Muhammad Abdi Maludin, had stressed that their movement was purely without any political setup. But a week later, Abdi admitted there was a flow of funds after the meeting, stating that the money promised was initially Rp300 million, but only 20 percent had been received so far.
