Pakistan PM to visit Riyadh next week for Future Investment Initiative summit - Assalamu Alaikum
Assalamu Alaikum. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Saudi Arabia from Oct. 27–29 to take part in the Future Investment Initiative (FII) summit, the foreign office announced. He’ll meet with Saudi leaders to look for ways to boost cooperation in trade, investment, energy and other areas.
The FII, started in 2017 by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund under Vision 2030, gathers leaders, investors and innovators to discuss investment prospects and advancements in fields like artificial intelligence, robotics and green finance. This year’s theme is “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth,” with talks focused on innovation, sustainability, economic inclusion and shifting geopolitical dynamics.
At the invitation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will head a high-level delegation including the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and senior cabinet ministers. During the visit he will also meet other participating leaders and heads of international bodies to showcase Pakistan’s investment potential and interest in sustainable development partnerships.
The foreign office said the talks with Saudi counterparts will explore expanded collaboration across trade, investment, energy and human resource development, and will touch on regional and global matters of mutual concern. These engagements reflect Pakistan’s focus on economic diplomacy and strengthening strategic ties in investment, technology and sustainable growth.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have deep, longstanding bonds rooted in shared faith and mutual respect and have recently worked to widen cooperation. They signed a defense pact in Riyadh on Sept. 18 and agreed last year on memorandums of understanding across multiple sectors worth about $2.8 billion. The defense pact reaffirms their security cooperation, stating that an attack on one will be treated as an attack on both.
Saudi Arabia also hosts over 2.5 million Pakistani expatriates, a vital source of remittances for Pakistan’s economy. May Allah make the visit beneficial for both countries and lead to fruitful cooperation. JazakAllah Khair.
