Oscar-nominated Yemeni director's film The Station, 10 years in the making, debuts at Cannes
Sara Ishaq’s debut feature The Station is premiering at Cannes after a decade of work. Set at a women-only gas station in war-torn Yemen, it’s inspired by the resilience she witnessed-women starting businesses just to survive. Ishaq, previously Oscar-nominated, captured years of footage during the conflict but chose a fictional story to honor their spirit. She says Yemenis keep finding joy and making art despite everything.
