NU Congress to Be Held in Jombang, Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Prepares 2-Hectare Parking and Accommodation for Thousands of Participants
The Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang has officially been designated as the host of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress, which will take place from 27–31 August 2026. The foundation's chairman, KH Abdurrozaq Sholeh (Gus Rozak), said they’ve set up a special team and are optimistic about being ready to welcome around 6,000 participants, observers, and invited guests from all over Indonesia.
Various support facilities are being prepared, including a bazaar area, rest areas, and the construction of a roughly two-hectare parking lot in the East Tambakberas area. The main congress sessions will be centered in the Haji Hasbullah Said Multipurpose Building, while participants' accommodation will use madrasah buildings within the boarding school compound that have been deemed suitable.
This selection came about after the pesantren proposed themselves to PBNU, which then went through a survey process before being chosen as the venue. Gus Rozak stressed the commitment of the entire pesantren community to provide top-notch service and make the congress a success, with a few minor improvements currently being finalized. The decision was made during the Joint Daily Meeting of the Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah of PBNU in Jakarta on Tuesday night (7/7), wrapping up the process of determining the venue for NU's highest consultative forum.
