Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Warns of 10-Year Entry Ban for Illegal Visa Users
The operational phase for the 1447 H/2026 AD Hajj pilgrimage is underway, with 22,051 Indonesian pilgrims in 56 groups departing for Saudi Arabia. A total of 17,747 pilgrims have already arrived in Madinah to begin their series of rituals in the Holy Land.
Ministry of Hajj and Umrah spokesperson Maria Assegaff emphasized that the Hajj pilgrimage is only valid with an official Hajj visa from Saudi Arabia. Pilgrimage, work, or tourist visas cannot be used. Violators may face detention, fines, deportation, and a ban on entering Saudi Arabia for up to 10 years.
As a preventive measure, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has formed a Special Task Force and has prevented the departure of 13 Indonesian citizens with non-procedural visas. The public is urged to report any suspected fraud through the Kawal Haji application. Pilgrims are also reminded to be cautious of the risks of dehydration in the high temperatures in Madinah.
