Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Claims National Fuel Stock Remains Safe Despite Two Months of Middle East Conflict
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia assures that the national fuel oil stock remains safe even though the conflict in the Middle East has been ongoing for almost two months. This statement was made after he was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, April 27, 2026.
According to Bahlil, supplies of fuels like diesel and gasoline are above the national minimum standard. He emphasized this stability is maintained despite the turmoil around the Strait of Hormuz potentially disrupting the global supply chain. The availability of crude oil for national refinery development is also stated to be secure.
The government also reported strategic steps to reduce dependence on LPG imports, one of which is through the development of CNG which is still under discussion. For the long term, strategies include optimizing oil and gas lifting, accelerating B50 biodiesel, and developing E20 bioethanol to face the threat of a global energy crisis.
