Millions of Pilgrims Ready to Move to Arafah: Here Are the Sunnah Practices and Essential Supplies
Millions of hajj pilgrims are getting ready to head to Arafah for wuquf on Tuesday (May 26) in the 1447 H/2026 hajj season. The movement from Mecca to Mina and Arafah starts in stages from Monday morning. Wuquf at Arafah is the spiritual peak of hajj, as the Prophet said: "Hajj is Arafah" (HR. at-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud).
Pilgrims are encouraged to do lots of dua, dhikr, istighfar, and talbiyah. The Prophet said: "The best dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah" (HR. at-Tirmidhi). That day is also considered the moment of the greatest forgiveness of sins. Pilgrims are advised to bring light supplies like water, personal meds, masks, a thin prayer mat, a power bank, and comfy sandals. For the elderly, heat protection gear like a foldable umbrella and oral rehydration salts are important since temps can go above 40°C.
Staying overnight at Muzdalifah is a challenge, and now murur (passing through by bus) is being applied. The authorities are focusing on smooth transportation and the health of pilgrims. For Muslims not going on hajj, it's recommended to do the Arafah sunnah fast and read Surah Al-Hajj after Dhuhr, repeating verse 27 according to the reader's age to ask for ease in going for umrah or hajj.
