Just had to get something off my chest...
When I was a kid, my dad (who always said he was Muslim, but honestly, his actions didn't match up at all) once gave me some gelatin to eat. I knew it wasn't halal, so when he looked away, I hid it in a closet and told him I'd eaten it. He found it later and started yelling at me, telling me not to listen to what he called 'extremist' teachings. My mom came down, and after hearing what happened, she supported me. That really confused him. He got so angry he tried to hit me, but my mom shielded me until he calmed down. Then, as if to prove a point, he took a huge bite of the gelatin himself and told me to eat it too. I took a tiny bite, and the moment he looked away, I spit it out quietly. Given the situation, was I right to do that?
