Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, the Jombang Regency Government is accelerating vaccination against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) for livestock. The goal is to ensure the health of sacrificial animals and strengthen livestock protection from the FMD virus, especially with the increasing traffic of livestock between regions.
The Head of the Animal Health Division of the Jombang Livestock Service, drh Azis Daryanto, reported that as of May 13, 2026, the second phase of vaccination has reached about 65% of its target. Thirteen vaccination teams are deployed across various areas, with the goal of administering more than 8,000 additional doses during May. The total vaccines received this year reached 43,000 doses, with 34,481 doses already realized as of May 13.
Once vaccination is complete, the Jombang Livestock Service will conduct health examinations of sacrificial animals in pens and sales stalls across 21 sub-districts. Antemortem and postmortem inspections will also be carried out during the slaughtering process to ensure the safety and suitability of the sacrificial meat for the community.
