The Beauty and Power of Ayatul Kursi
Ayatul Kursi, found in Surah Al-Baqarah (verse 255), is one of the most revered verses in the Holy Quran. It beautifully describes the oneness, majesty, and supreme attributes of Allah SWT. There are immense blessings and virtues in reciting this powerful ayah. It was narrated that the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death.” SubhanAllah! Once, Hazrat Abu Dharr RA asked the Messenger of Allah SAW, “O Messenger of Allah, which is the most dignified verse revealed to you?” The Prophet SAW replied, “Ayatul Kursi.” The verse itself is a profound declaration of Tawhid: Allahu la ilaha illa huwal haiyyul qaiyyum. La ta'khuzuhu sinatun wa la naum... (You know the rest!) Its meaning fills the heart with awe: There is no god but Allah, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. No drowsiness or sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs all in the heavens and earth. None can intercede except by His permission. He knows what is before us and behind us, and no one can grasp His knowledge except by His will. His Throne extends over the heavens and earth, and preserving them does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great. Something amazing about Ayatul Kursi is its structure-it has a kind of beautiful symmetry. The first and last statements mirror each other in majesty, and the middle verse stands alone, highlighting Allah's all-encompassing knowledge. Just reflecting on that gives me goosebumps. May Allah SWT make us among those who regularly recite and live by the teachings of this magnificent verse. Ameen.
